How Brain Dumping Could Help You

As a business owner you're more than likely got many ideas racing through your mind. From admin to marketing to finance, customers and lots more.

What can you do to get order to your thoughts and plans?

A "brain dump" could be useful!

It may seem a strange term. But it's a well known technique. Both for students and well anyone - including business owners like you.

Get a pen and paper and write down:
  • what you are thinking about
  • what you will do,
  • what are your three main priorities
  • and what you are grateful for

As it's preferable to do this shortly before bed. Or first thing in the morning. It's ideal to do this using a pen/paper but you can use a computer/smartphone if you need to.

3 Benefits Of A "Brain Dump"

  1. Improve your focus. Get clarity on what tasks you need to do. And in what priority
  2. Be more likely to remember things. Writing things down can make it easier to remember them.
  3. Reduce your stress levels. Having lots of thoughts in your mind can stress you out. Writing it down means you can refer to it - without retaining all details in your mind.

Is This The Same As Writing In A Journal?

No, as journalling is usually structured, with some method. Whereas 'brain dumping' is random. Write thoughts and ideas down. List them, no order required!

It may take some practice. As feeling free to write your thoughts down can be difficult. If it's not something you're used to doing!

Action Step:

Start practicing this technique regularly. Whether it's every day or every few days, it could transform your clarity and help you get clear on how to move your business forward. And reduce your stress, which is something we can all benefit from.
